The Team:

The APAC Holdings team delivers market leading shareholder ownership data and fund holdings and is responsible for understanding the requirements for data disclosure in the APAC Markets. This helps our customers understand market sentiment and liquidity, driving investment decisions. We source the data from exchanges, company filings, issuer website, registry, third-party providers as well as we build relationships with Asset Managers and Asset Owners to source the data directly from them. As a result of this data being both publicly and privately sourced, the team’s goals are to automate the ETL pipeline for more timely and accurate delivery of the data as well as relationship management and data procurement.

The Role:

The APAC Holdings team is looking for a motivated leader to help drive innovation within the Bloomberg Ownership and Portfolios products. You will use the ownership data collected by the team to help identify areas of opportunity and lead automation projects to enhance our data processing efforts, leveraging technical solutions. At the same time, you will work closely with Sales to build market presence and continue building our brand as a competitive provider of Fund Holdings data. You will push the product to new boundaries and use your analytical capabilities to make decisions that will allow the team to move past challenges. You will have interactions with our internal stakeholders while working with the following type of clients:

  • Traders looking for counterparties

  • Sales people looking for prospects

  • Buyside Managers doing Fund screening

  • Investor Relations Officers seeking intelligence on their shareholders and the ownership profiles of their peers

  • Compliance Officers assessing their exposures

  • Quant analysts studying investment trends

We'll trust you to:

  • Empower and lead a team of individuals with diverse abilities across data analysis and data management including but not limited to ETL pipelining, business intelligence, data modeling, and data architecture

  • Empower your team to drive product increments in collaboration with Data/Core Product Owners and Engineering

  • Lead the team to partner with other data and core business groups, such as Product, Sales, News and Engineering to help develop and improve fit-for-purpose data that powers our products, including functionality across the product set

  • Build Market presence and help the team organize and run seminars and procurement strategy across APAC

  • Mentor the team on large and sophisticated data projects and business initiatives related to data automation, machine learning and process improvement

  • Optimally communicate and collaborate with direct partners in Core Product, Enterprise, Engineering, and other data teams

  • Stay engaged with financial industry and how Bloomberg clients consume our data

You’ll need to have:

  • Minimum 3 years of direct or indirect leadership experience (for example leading projects, mentoring people, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience in data management principles and technologies such as data modeling, data analysis, statistics, or data integration.

  • 3-6 years of demonstrated work experience in the financial services industry, including exchanges, market data providers or financial institutions

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in relevant Economics, a quantitative social science, finance, STEM, or related field, or degree-equivalent qualifications

  • Technical experience to lead a team of data analysts and ensure high standards in production deliveries

  • Passion for relationship building and strong communication skills to effectively build network internally and externally

  • Experience driving strategies, managing complex projects, and leadership ability in change management or influencing others

  • Passion for mentoring and deveoping individuals with diverse abilities and backgrounds

  • Deep knowledge of financial markets, data management / governance, and quality assurance practices

  • Proven ability to establish strong credibility and build influential relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill in English, allowing you to clearly communicate business needs and to advocate on behalf of your team as well as communicate business and operational strategy to your team

We’d love to see:

  • Experience in semantic technologies, or an understanding of their structures

  • Understanding of Data Governance and Data Management

  • Well-honed listening skills, allowing you to draw understanding of your team and clients’ needs

  • Experience using a Scrum Agile process

  • Client facing experience
