Job Summary

Provides support in project management and communications with attention to both Battelle’s education and philanthropic work. The Stay in the Game! Attendance Network (SITG!), a dynamic statewide movement and learning network that is dedicated to improving student attendance in K-12 schools, is seeking a Communications Associate to lead the marketing, communications, and storytelling efforts. This position will develop and manage the execution of external and internal marketing and communication plans for the SITG! Attendance Network. This role will involve working with the Network Director, Network District Implementation Manager, Network partners, and sports team representatives to share essential information with the public.

Responsibilities

Lead Marketing and Communications of the SITG! Network

  1. Assist with strategy development and manage the execution of communications and marketing plans for SITG! Attendance Network while contributing to ongoing communications and messaging by proactively finding story ideas and content to continually showcase the impact of SITG! in partner school districts.

  2. Manage the creation and execution of SITG! Attendance Network's social media strategy includes creating and sourcing all content and maintaining regular posting cadence in collaboration with SITG! external partners (i.e., monthly newsletters, social media, press releases, informational articles).

  3. Participate in state-level education groups and initiatives as necessary to advance the network's efforts.

Support SITG! District Leadership Teams

  1. Support recruitment of SITG! districts through marketing and communication channels while providing targeted assistance to districts needing support with marketing and communication efforts.

  2. Work closely with Leadership Partner Team members to cultivate additional Champions (i.e., funders/in-kind contributors) while honoring existing contracts and relationships owned by sports teams affiliated with SITG!

Responsibilities

Identify and Develop Learning Experiences for districts and Schools

  1. Work closely with districts to identify attendance-related communication needs, and contribute to monthly learning webinars and other events hosted by SITG!.

  2. Serve as liaison for the SITG! Communication team to ensure alignment across Network Partners with attendance-related guidance, expectations, opportunities, and communication efforts by leading biweekly meetings.

  3. Assist with developing concept papers, proposals, and district-level highlights to share with funders, over social media, in newsletters, and to enrich Network learning including providing data visuals.

Support Network Scaling

  1. Work with the Network Director, informing annual priorities, planning and budgets based on the needs of Network districts and partners, and scaling goals while continually identifying refinements to improve services.

Support the Public Voice of the Network

  1. Serve as a spokesperson for the Network, contribute to ongoing communications and messaging, build relationships with key influencers and legislators, and speak at regional or national events on chronic absenteeism; when interested, regions may want to learn better about the SITG! model.

Key Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field. 1-2 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or similar field. Highly adaptable within a collaborative work environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Exceptional organizational skills and creativity. Strong computer skills and graphic design experience are a plus. A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing various projects concurrently. Self-starter, able to work independently as well as with a team. Knowledge and understanding of current trends and issues in education and business. Knowledge of the state and national landscape of education is preferred. Occasional travel is expected (i.e., 10% of the time).

Compensation Data

Salary: $65,000-$75,000

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
